Local artist’s work on display at Times Square Jumbotron in New York City

HMVC Gallery New York has selected Marion Kahn’s oil on canvas painting titled “Cowboy Dream” to be displayed on the Times Square Jumbotron for its summer show at 1pm EST on Saturday.

Kahn, a Steamboat Springs artist who represents Zandee Gallery, based the 6-by-4-foot painting on a photograph of a cowboy taken by the Steamboat Pilot & Today at the Steamboat Springs Pro Rodeo series.

“This was a very difficult painting to make,” Kahn said in a statement. “Because of the sheer size, the number of layers and the detail, I was going up and down so much that my thighs hurt, like the first time I skied down.”

Kahn said the painting makes a statement in color and design, and she is excited to share her art with the people of New York City and the world.
