The Department of Tourism and Civil Aviation in Sikkim has mandated that all tourist vehicles entering the state must carry large garbage bags to promote environmental sustainability and ensure community participation.

Tour operators, travel agencies and drivers are responsible for educating tourists about the use of these garbage bags for collecting and disposing of waste.

The department will conduct random checks to ensure compliance. Offenders will be sanctioned.
