Wesley College student dies, Girl dies after fall at school

Wesley college student dies: Students and staff at Wesley College experienced a heartbreaking morning last Friday when a 13-year-old girl was presumed dead while running to assembly after slipping and hitting her head on the floor of the auditorium.

When asked by this newspaper on Monday, the school principal declined to comment on her death, saying only: “Nothing happened; she just died.”

Meanwhile, condolences from classmates and family members of the 13-year-old girl have been pouring in on social media following her unexpected death last week.

The victim was taken to the hospital that morning. The entire school was in shock.

The student reportedly tripped and hit her head on the ground as she ran to the meeting. According to the students, other students came to her aid, but she was unconscious.

Attempts to obtain a statement from the family and police on Monday were unsuccessful. According to Samoa Observer, police are now investigating the case, as the doctor signed the death certificate without notifying police, which is common practice.

According to the children, the girl was rushing because she did not want to be fined for being late for the meeting. The Samoa Observer was informed that the school also made a traditional apology to the teenager’s family over the weekend.
