Community Unit: El Paso Sheriff’s Office and Operation HOPE Prepare Students for Success

EL PASO, Texas — As families prepare for the new school year, a recent partnership between a local nonprofit and the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office has left a lasting impact. The Saturday Backpack Giveaway hosted by Operation HOPE and the Sheriff’s Office wasn’t just about providing essential school supplies like pencils, highlighters and folders; it was a celebration of community and support.

“Events like this really help get them really excited because they see the superheroes here. They see all of our community members coming together, excited, giving high fives. And it really helps them get off on the right foot,” one attendee noted.

The event saw a long line of excited parents and students waiting anxiously to receive their supplies. In addition to deputies and staff, surprise superheroes added to the excitement by handing out backpacks and sharing high fives, creating cherished memories for all involved.

“All the kids love new backpacks, new gear, and it’s fun to see parents get even more excited sometimes. And the kids,” shared another attendee.

The Sheriff’s team worked tirelessly to pack a total of 250 backpacks for the giveaway, a testament to their dedication to the community.

This 15-year partnership between Operation HOPE and the Sheriff’s Office not only provides safety and security, but also creates a strong bond with the region’s future leaders.

The teamwork demonstrated at the event made a huge impact on the community, strengthening bonds and providing essential resources for a successful school year.
