Father and daughter serve up American BBQ flavor with new venture

A new eatery has opened that aims to bring the taste of authentic American smoked food to Royal Wootton Bassett.

Entrepreneurs Hannah Airey and her father Jason Airey recently opened Smokinly Good BBQ in the Wiltshire town, in partnership with Hannah’s other business Chase Your Dreams Parties and Events.

The duo aim to combine the rich, smoky flavours of Texan barbecue with a uniquely British twist.

The project was inspired by a culinary journey through some of America’s legendary barbecue spots, including Snow’s BBQ and Franklin Barbecue in Texas, during a recent trip to the United States.

“The experience was transformative,” Jason said. “The dedication to the craft and depth of flavor I encountered was unparalleled. I knew I had to try to bring that experience home with me, but with a twist that speaks to our local palate.”

Smokinly Good BBQ’s menu is a mix of American barbecue dishes, prepared with local produce and meat.

“Expect classics like slow-cooked beef brisket, pulled pork and smoked ribs, all served with a wide selection of fresh sides,” says Jason.

Hannah added: “We’re not just copying American barbecue. We’re mixing it with a selection of fresh side dishes made from locally sourced produce to create something new and exciting.

“It’s about combining the best of both worlds and delivering a dining experience that is both familiar and new.”

Smokinly Good BBQ is currently serving a lunch menu from 11am to 2:30pm Monday through Friday. On Friday and Saturday, dine-in and take-out are available from 6pm until ‘gone’.

They will also be offering bouncy castles and soft play equipment on Friday and Saturday evenings at the warehouse on the Whitehill Industrial Estate, Royal Wootton Bassett.

There is also a major family event planned later this month, on July 28, to raise money for charity.

The event will support Shine PND Support, a charity that supports mothers struggling with depression, anxiety and isolation with creative therapy sessions in Swindon, Cirencester and Gloucester.

There will be a bouncy castle, soft play area, sensory play and craft activities, and JJ’s Reptiles will also be visiting.

There is no need to book, the cost via card payment only is £6 per child for unlimited play, with adults free

The coffee shop is open and serves food and drinks. Smokinly Good BBQ is served from 11am.
