Tobi Amusan, the Nigerian medal contender at the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris 2024, lost a thrilling pre-Olympic race to Grace Stark of the United States at the Mike Holloway Pro Classic in Florida.

The American college champion won with ease, leaving the world record holder in the women’s 100-meter track in second place on Saturday, July 20.

Cyber ​​Reporters reports that Stark won the race in an impressive time of 12.58 seconds, relegating Amusan to second place in 12.60 seconds (-1.7 m/s).

The Nigerian magazine Making of Champions wrote:

“Tobi Amusan put in a great performance at the Holloway Pro Classic in Florida by finishing second in the women’s 100mH final with a time of 12.60s (-1.7)!

“She had a bad start, but flew over the hurdles and recovered well. She came second, just behind Grace Stark, who won in 12.58 seconds. American champion Masai Russell came third in 12.66 seconds.”

This comes less than a week before the start of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France.

Stark has been in impressive form this season, winning the NCAA series and also having success at the US Olympic Qualifiers, where she set a stunning personal best of 12.31 seconds, placing second behind Masai Russel with an exceptional time of 12.25 seconds, the best time in the world.
