Many people in downtown Topeka and Topeka High School have lost power

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – More than 750 people near downtown Topeka were without power Monday afternoon.

Shortly after 2 p.m., a power outage occurred between SW 4th St. and SW 10th Ave.

Topeka High School was affected by the outage and dismissed students, while Evergy addresses the outage that is affecting the community surrounding the school.

According to the Evergy outage map, crews were assigned and power was restored to all customers just before 3:30 p.m.

The cause of the power outage was a fault in the underground pipeline.
